The Huntington Society of Manitoba salutes Smitty's Restaurants for their exemplary commitment and support. With their help, the Huntington Indy Go-Kart Challenge has achieved goals beyond our wildest dreams and allowed us to fund much needed services for Manitobans dealing with the devastating effects of HD.
Huntington disease (HD) is a progressive disease of the brain and affects both children and adults, leading to a decline in cognitive and motor skills and a loss of emotional control. Its impact is relentless, affecting the person's ability to walk, speak, think and remember. One in 1,000 Canadians is touched by HD, whether at risk, as a caregiver, a family member or a friend. Each child born to a parent with HD has a 50-percent chance of sharing the same fate. Though there are no treatments available that will slow down or stop the disease, hope for a meaningful treatment has never been more real. Learn more at www.huntingtonsociety.ca
The Huntington Society of Canada is a national network of volunteers and professionals, united in the fight against HD since 1973, who aspire to a world free from Huntington disease. The Society maximizes the quality of life of people living with HD by delivering services, enabling others to understand the disease and furthering research to slow and to prevent Huntington disease.
It's so important to have experts to talk to and help me as I deal with Huntington Disease. Most people don't understand what I'm dealing with and can't give me support. The Manitoba Huntington Disease Resource Centre is making such a difference in my life that I don't know how I would cope without it. Thank you so much for supporting these services for me and my family!
Not Alone with HD
